ASL Champs Slogan Design
CHAMPS is more than winning—it’s about representing the deaf community. This unique illustration request from U.S. Soccer gave me the opportunity to design the National Team’s slogan in American Sign Language (ASL) fingerspelling. These vibrant pre-match tops were worn by the soccer athletes and available for purchase.
The slogan ‘Champs’ is an ASL slang word that means awesome, wow and amazing. It was inspired by how diverse the deaf women’s soccer team is. It’s impressive that all the players have different communication styles — some are speakers, some are signers, wear cochlear implants, hearing aids or nothing at all.
They have the ability to find a way to play and connect to win.
