Deaf-iculties
Seven pieces were created to share insight into the daily occurrences a deaf individual experiences during common situations. Being diagnosed deaf at birth heightened my visual senses in order to acquire language. I hope to shed light on what it's like to be deaf and show how the smallest things often make the biggest impact.

Trim
When the upper lip is concealed by facial hair, it can be difficult to decipher words.

Vibes
Music is limited to the vibrations felt and less about the lyrics.

Eye Hear You
Relying on vision to observe and interpret content such as body language, facial expressions and spoken communication is critical.

Cocktails
The difficulty of lip reading people under dim lighting sources takes away the ease of conversation flow.

Point
Group conversations are difficult to interpret. If the topic is direct, following along is easier.

Repeat
Quick lip movements are more difficult to lip read. Clear repetitions usually help get the message across.

May The Fort Be With You
YouTube captions don't always encode accurately. This leaves out critical elements altogether.
